Hey guys, I've talked to Dekoth, and he moved back to Georgia, due to the situation he talked to you guys about. Even though he is settled in now, he is unable to get on the internet still.
Unfortunately he does not have a time frame for when that will be, but I was told hopefully soon.
All we can do is hang tight til Dekoth is able to re-establish himself and get stuff together, and get back on.
So the forums may remain like this for a while, I hope that yall won't abandon us all together, and will try and understand. Thank you.
I'll post more when I know more. I am going to leave this thread open for a bit if yall wanna leave any messages. And I'll clean up the spammers when I can.

As Dekoth has already mentioned, the forums will be drastically changing over the next several weeks.
Most of you will not be able to post for a while. We had to do this to keep out spammers til we get things more situated and in control.
Please be aware tho, that we will be bringing back the forums, but that it will mostly likely be after the holidays.

Greetings Everyone!
While the Game servers are closed, that does not mean Omega as an entity is going away. To be clear to those who keep PMing me, the Game Servers Will Not be coming back. This is non negotiable as on top of the financial concerns I also received a Cease and Desist letter from Blizzard legal, and I am not personally prepared to fight them in court. Put bluntly, WoWGlider fought them and lost to the tune of 6Million, I am not about to fight them.
However we are still looking to build the community. There will be a good number of changes around here in the coming days as this forum is converted more to a World of Warcraft Community forum. We will also be starting to more the Omega Game Network forums into more active use as we plan to Cater to a variety of Game communities. Trust me, you will want to see what all this turns into, as you will find there will end up something for everyone.

It has been an interesting year here at Omega WoW. We have had up's and downs, mostly ups. Have built a fantastic community and have made alot of friends. However it is my unfortunate duty to inform everyone that as of Today the doors are closed.
I regret that it comes to this, but there are far too many things going on to allow me to continue keeping the server up. As many have noticed, bug response has gotten slower. Servers are crashing and fixes are few. This is not a manner in which I am willing to run a server. It is not any one person's fault, it is just that everyone here works on OWoW on their own free time, and with the economy sagging freetime is something few if any of us have any longer. I had hoped that the comp package we recently did to recover from the incident with the db would revitalize things to the point that it would stabilize Omega financially where it was self sufficient. Unfortunately it seems that all it did was kill financial support entirely. In order for Omega WoW to keep going, simply put it had to pay for itself. I enjoy giving to people, that is what I love more then anything. However I am just at a point where I have nothing that I can give.
While I would love to keep the server going, the reality is that I have personally been effectively out of work for 4 months now. I have been working for the company unpaid trying to help them recover, under the promise that a paycheck for all of it be delivered last friday. Regretfully not only did that not happen, but no paycheck came at all leaving me tapped for everything I own. I am not asking for pity, sympathy or anything of the like. I just felt you guys deserved to know why I was shutting it down on zero notice. I had planned everything around that check coming in, but when the business failed to come through. It came down to having a place to live vs paying the server dues. I think most will understand that I chose not living under a bridge.
Other reasons are pretty simple, our Development team what is left simply does not have the time required to dedicate to running the server right. I was always taught that if you couldn't do it right, then don't bother doing it at all. It just became too much of a burden that i could no longer shoulder. I am sorry and hate that it comes to this, but I simply cannot cope with the stress any longer on top of desperetly trying to find a job before I lose everything I own.
The forums will remain up, if anyone cares for quite sometime. If possible when things in my life start to work out, I may consider bringing omega wow or some other projects back. Until then I wish you all well, and I am sincerely sorry it comes to this.
